Bonjour ! I’m Amandine, a native French speaker from the beautiful Loire Valley, with over 10 years of experience helping students master the French language. After spending time living in Paris and working in sales and marketing, I discovered that my true passion lies in teaching. That’s why I founded Excuse My French—to share my love for the French language and culture, and to prove that it’s never too late to learn a new language.
At Excuse My French, I don’t just teach textbook French. My goal is to help you learn real, everyday French that you can use confidently, whether you’re preparing for exams, travelling to French-speaking countries, or simply wanting to immerse yourself in the language.
I believe learning a language should be fun and adapted to the student. Over the years, I’ve developed a creative and flexible teaching style, drawing on a huge range of resources—including games, visuals, and real-life examples—to bring the language to life. I don’t follow a strict curriculum or rely solely on textbooks. Instead, I adapt my lessons based on how each student learns best. Whether you’re a visual learner or prefer auditory techniques, I’ll tailor the experience to you.
Building confidence is at the heart of my teaching. In the first month of lessons, I focus on breaking down any doubts my students may have. I love seeing that moment when everything clicks, and students realise they can do it! I’m friendly, non-judgmental, and approachable—my goal is to create an environment where you feel safe to try, make mistakes, and grow.
What makes Excuse My French stand out is the personalised attention I give each student. I teach you how French is spoken in real life, helping you blend into French-speaking environments with confidence. I also go the extra mile to meet specific needs, like researching the local dialect of French in Switzerland for one of my students who travels there frequently. Whatever your language goals, I’m here to make them achievable.
And because I love French history and culture, I weave those elements into my lessons. I share stories about daily life in France, offer insights into French traditions, and even bring in a bit of history when it fits.
When you join me at Excuse My French, we’ll work together to break your long-term goals into smaller, actionable steps. Whether it’s feeling confident ordering food in a restaurant or passing your A-level exams, we’ll celebrate every milestone. Hearing from students after a trip abroad—knowing they were able to navigate a conversation or understand what was said in a shop—fills me with pride.
I also love helping people prepare for their travels to France. Whether it’s making a phone call in French, planning an itinerary, or finding hidden gems off the beaten tourist path, I’m here to ensure you have an authentic and memorable experience.
